Incident: Lufthansa B735 near Hamburg on Sep 23rd 2010, engine shut down in flight

The crew of a Lufthansa Boeing 737-500, registration D-ABJC performing flight LH-72 from Dusseldorf to Hamburg (Germany) with 88 passengers, needed to shut an engine (CFM56) while in flight. The crew continued to Hamburg for a safe landing on schedule.
Lufthansa said, that the crew noticed a fluctuation on the engine instruments and decided to shut the engine down as a precaution. Maintenance are now checking whether there was a real issue or an indication problem.
