Apre il 27/06 Al Maktoum Intl (Dubai)

Certamente !

Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central Opens for Passengers

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
The new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central (DWC) opened its doors for business today following its official inauguration and the welcoming of the first commercial flight.
A large delegation of local dignitaries and aviation officials toured the facility following the unveiling of a commemorative display and welcomed the arrival of the first commercial flight, Wizz Air flight W6 2497 arriving from Budapest, Hungary. Also present were aircraft from Gulf Air and Jazeera Airlines both of which will commence operations at DWC soon.
“Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central will play a vital role in the future development of Dubai as a centre for trade, commerce, transport and logistics and tourism. I am impressed by the efficiency and convenience of this new terminal,” said HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Airports. “The opening of this facility signals the historic beginning of a long-term plan to build the largest airport in the world to accommodate the tremendous passenger growth and contribute to the continued economic and social development of Dubai.”
The new passenger terminal offers full retail as well as food and beverage amenities. It is serviced by one A380 capable runway, 64 remote aircraft stands and has capacity for up to 7 million passengers per year.
Dubai Airports has thus far confirmed operations with three airlines. Wizz Air, which provides low-cost air transport across 30 countries with 16 bases across Europe, will provide non-stop services linking DWC to Central and Eastern Europe. Jazeera Airways will commence operations with two weekly flights starting October 31st, 2013. Most recently, Gulf Air has announced its intention to start daily operations to Bahrain on December 8, 2013. Dubai Airports is in discussions with a number of other interested carriers.
“The location, convenience and compact nature of DWC are compelling attributes,” added Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports. “Airline and customer interest in this airport continues to grow and we hope to announce additional services in the near future.”

Dubai Airports Reports Cargo Traffic at DWC

Aircraft movements rose 46 per cent at Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central (DWC) while fluctuations in charter traffic have seen freight volumes dip 11.3 per cent in the first nine months of 2013.
During the first three quarters of the year aircraft movements rose 46.3 per cent to 16,923, up from 11,571 movements during the same period in 2012. For the third quarter of 2013 air movements rose 63 per cent to 6,686, up from 4,097 in the third quarter of 2012 due to a surge in general aviation and training flights.
Freight volumes totalled 146,181 tonnes in the first nine months of the year, down 11.3 per cent from 164,757 tonnes recorded in the same period in 2012. For the third quarter volumes came in at 43,252 tonnes, down 26 per cent from 58,423 tonnes handled during the same period in 2012. The decline comes due to fluctuations in charter operations and as freight volumes stabilise after the rapid growth seen in the first few years of cargo operations at the airport. DWC first opened for freight operations in June 2010.
“It is not unusual for new airports to see fluctuations in cargo traffic particularly from charter airlines,” said Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports. “However, this volatility will be short-lived as the level of scheduled freighter traffic is set to increase substantially next year.”
Emirates SkyCargo has confirmed that all dedicated freight flights will be operated from its new base at DWC when it opens in May 2014 while Air France-KLM relocated its regional hub to the airport in August this year. Dubai Airports is also in discussions with a number of other airlines about commencing freighter operations at DWC.
Passenger services began on October 27 with the launch of service by low-cost carrier Wizz Air. Jazeera Airways (two flights per week), Gulf Air (daily) and, most recently, Qatar Airways (twice daily) have also confirmed passenger operations.

Dubai Airports welcomes Sheikh Mohammed’s approval of 32bn US dollars DWC airport expansion plan

Dubai, UAE – September 8, 2014 – Dubai Airports today welcomed the announcement by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai endorsing the AED120bn (US$ 32bn) expansion of Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central (DWC) which will ultimately accommodate more than 200 million passengers a year.
The development is anticipated to be the biggest airport project in the world and will be built in two phases. The first phase includes two satellite buildings with a collectively capacity of 120 million passengers annually, accommodate 100 A380 aircraft at any one time and will take between six and eight years to complete. The entire development will cover an area of 56 square kilometres.
More than its size, the new airport’s uniqueness lies in a radically new approach to ensure that the latest technology and efficient processes will cut the time spent completing travel formalities and reduce walking distances, enabling passengers to make fast and efficient connections between hundreds of destinations worldwide.
The decision follows months of planning by the key stakeholders in the aviation sector, including Dubai Airports, Dubai Airports Engineering Projects, Emirates airline and dnata, to ensure that a design was selected that facilitates the future growth of Dubai’s aviation industry.
With passenger traffic expected to reach almost 100 million at Dubai International by the end of 2020, the further development of DWC will be a vital step towards providing the necessary facilities to accommodate passenger and cargo growth in the decades ahead and pave the way for Emirates to relocate their intercontinental hub operations to DWC by the mid-2020s.
Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, thanked Sheikh Mohammed for his visionary support of the project, and described the new airport as a vital investment in the future of Dubai. He confirmed that the aviation sector was projected to remain a cornerstone of Dubai’s economy, and was expected to support more than 322,000 jobs and contribute 28 per cent of Dubai’s GDP by 2020.
“Our future lies at DWC. The announcement of this AED120bn development of DWC is both timely and a strong endorsement of Dubai’s aviation industry. With limited options for further growth at Dubai International, we are taking that next step to securing our future by building a brand new airport that will not only create the capacity we will need in the coming decades but also provide state of the art facilities that revolutionise the airport experience on an unprecedented scale,” said Griffiths.

Emirates eyes 100 new destinations from Dubai World Central

Airline set to shift over to DWC in 2025 when annual capacity touches 120 million passengers following $32b expansion

Miami: Emirates airline will move into the second stage of its growth once it shifts to Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central (DWC) next decade that includes 100 new destinations and room to double its fleet, President Tim Clark said on Tuesday.
"[There are] cities of first-, second- and third-level, towns, provinces all around the world that are still not served by Emirates and not meaningfully served by other main line carriers and 100 of those we have on our radar," Clark told reporters at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) annual meet in Miami.
Emirates, the world's largest airline by international seating capacity, currently flies to more than 140 destinations from its current home airport, Dubai International.
The airline is scheduled to shift over to DWC located in the south of Dubai along the Abu Dhabi border some time around 2025 when a $32-billion project expanding the airport to 120 million annual passenger capacity is completed.
The airline is facing constraints at Dubai International, which is the world's busiest by international passenger traffic.
"That will change when DWC comes online," Clark said.

Bigger fleet

Emirates fleet will be between 280 and 300 widebody aircraft by the time it shifts to DWC, Clark said, up from around 230 today.
"There is nothing stopping us to doubling the size of the airline [to 600 aircraft] once we get to DWC," Clark added.
Clark has previously said the airline would be able to operate 250 Airbus A380s from DWC. It currently operates 61 from a total order of 140.
