Air France to fly non-stop to Cape Town
Wednesday 6 April 2011
* 24 weekly flights between Europe and South Africa
* Cape Town, 12th destination launched in 2011
* New Business Class seat available to Cape Town
Starting on 3 November 2011, Air France will fly to Cape Town in South Africa from Paris-Charles de Gaulle, with 3 weekly frequencies.
A city in the south-western corner of South Africa, located on the Atlantic coast, Cape Town is the second largest port, the country's legislative capital, seat of the South African Parliament and one of the top tourist destinations in South Africa.
Flights will be operated by a Boeing 777-200 with a total capacity of 309 seats, equipped with 35 seats in the Business cabin, 24 seats in the Premium Voyageur cabin and 250 seats in the Voyageur cabin. On board, passengers will be able to discover Air France’s new Business Class seat launched last December.
“After Air France started operating its A380 on the Johannesburg route in February 2010, the launch of non-stop flights to Cape Town illustrates Air France-KLM’s desire to continue its expansion policy in South Africa by offering customers 24 weekly services from its two hubs at Paris Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol to South Africa as from winter 2011” declared Pierre Descazeaux, SVP Air France-KLM Africa & Middle East.
This new route launch is part of Air France and KLM’s expansion policy on the African continent, with 4 new destinations in 2011: Freetown (Sierra Leone), Monrovia (Liberia), Bata (Equatorial Guinea) and Cape Town. These new destinations bring the number of cities in Africa served in winter 2011 to 38.
On their entire networks, Air France and KLM are offering 12 new destinations in 2011.
