Aer Arran cuts 100 jobs

Oct 20 2008 WalesOnline

Irish airline Aer Arann is to axe up to 100 jobs as part of a survival plan to ride out the economic crisis, it announced today.

The carrier, which operates 40 routes within Ireland and to the UK and Europe, said it would switch focus to chartered flights and aircraft leasing.

Bosses were today meeting the company’s 380 workers to inform them of the massive cost-cutting and restructuring package.

The airline insists its key routes will not be affected but an ongoing review could see less successful services being axed or cut back.

Aer Arann runs flights from several airports in Ireland to UK destinations including Cardiff, London Luton, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Bristol and Southampton.

It also operates services to Lorient, La Rochelle and Bordeaux in France as well as Malaga in Spain and Faro in Portugal.
