Dal 29/3 la piccola compagnia svedese amplierà la propria rete europea con nuovi collegamenti diretti da GOT verso PMI/ALC/FCO/BCN/MXP/AGP/ATH.
Attualmente il vettore utilizza solo ER3/ER4.

City Airline launches large scale drive with seven new destinations direct from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport
City Airline aims to double its operations during 2010 and increase capacity by over 100 per cent. The new destinations, Palma, Alicante, Rome, Barcelona, Milan, Malaga and Athens, can be booked at www.cityairline.com from and including Wednesday 7 October.

This will mean that City Airline has 19 destinations from Gothenburg out into Europe. The decision to expand is based on City Airline’s positive efforts on the private market, where Nice, among others, has become a successful route. This and a more stable market for business travellers, means that City Airline now see opportunities to grow and increase their market share.

– The new destinations are a natural step in our aim to be the leading airline in the west of Sweden. During the spring we intend to increase our fleet by a further two aircraft, which will be larger than the models we are using today, in order to be able to operate our new routes, said Jimmie Bergqvist.

These new routes will make City Airline the actor at Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport that has the greatest number of direct routes, and an important actor for travellers from the west of Sweden.

La compagnia ha operato un paio di anni fa la stessa rotta da MXP in c/s con AZ con E-145.
 
Buona notizia anche se Gothenburg mi sembra una destinazione abbastanza di nicchia inoltre da Milano si dovranno confrontare anche col BGY-GSE 3x week di Ryanair

seppur minimo come incentivo... possono sempre contare sulla fidelizzazione dei clienti EuroBonus SAS cui CityAirline aderisce.
 
I nuovi voli sono in vendita, MXP parte il 15 aprile 2010 con prezzi a partire da 68 euro one way e 136 euro per l'ar. Ora bisogna che facciano una maxi campagna pubblicitaria in Italia perchè qui non li conosce nessuno.

Non ve ne è bisogno : il target è sopratutto svedese e business misto a mezzo AdV.

E' in parte charterizzato? Ok che sono conosciuti in Svezia ma fare promozione per prendere anche dei pax italiani penso che gli possa interessare.... Tempo fa avevano già operato la rotta ma con scarsi risutati, questa volta andrà meglio?
 
Faccio notare che City Airline diventa la prima compagnia di linea, in assoluto, per numero di destinazioni servite da GOT :

UPDATE
Su MXP viene cambiato il tipo di a/m : si passa dall' M87 al più piccolo ER4.
Evidentemente, le prenotazioni in avvio non sono state poi cosi esaltanti.

Su FCO viene confermato invece l'impiego dell'M87.

Göteborg Landvetter to become a major Swedish hub for flights to Europe

Gothenburg-based City Airline is starting flights between Göteborg Landvetter Airport and some ten regional Swedish airports, including Växjö, Örebro, Borlänge, Norrköping and Karlstad. Synchronised departures for the new domestic routes will be established with connecting flights to over 40 destinations in Europe. The initiative can create several thousand new jobs in the regions, reduce travelling times considerably, and provide new stimulation for regional development.

The new routes were presented by City Airline, Göteborg Landvetter Airport, Region Västra Götaland and Göteborg & Co at a joint news conference at the airport today. The Landvetter hub will offer travellers from much of Sweden the opportunity for rapid travel to Europe. A journey from Karlstad to Paris, for example, incorporating a short stopover at Göteborg Landvetter, will take about three hours and cost SEK 995. It is planned that all routes will start operating in the autumn of 2010.

Göteborg Landvetter Airport - the hub: "Göteborg Landvetter is investing approximately SEK 100 million in the project during the next two years in order to create fast and convenient travel for passengers", says Olle Sundin, airport manager at Göteborg Landvetter Airport.

Dr. Ossian Stiernstrand, research and development manager at Göteborg & Co, has calculated that the increase in passengers through the regions will create several thousand new job opportunities, in the long term. The increase in annual turnover for the tourist industry in the regions may amount to SEK 5 billion, when the project is fully up and running. Over 4.2 million people live in the catchment areas served by the new domestic routes. It is City Airline's goal to reach 1.2 million passengers during 2011.

Each new domestic route will be operated by a regional subsidiary of City Airline, partly owned by companies and individuals in the locality. Owners for the regional subsidiaries include Torsten Jansson and Göran Härstedt (Härstedt & Jansson Invest AB) in Air Växjö, and Löfbergs Lila and Färjestad Hockey in Air Karlstad. Investment AB Janus, which is owned by Lars Magnusson, will invest approximately SEK 50 million in the regional subsidiaries and a further SEK 25 million in City Airline.

"Göteborg Landvetter will unite some ten regions in Scandinavia with many destinations throughout Europe. This will stimulate the whole Gothenburg and Västra Götaland region, and it will boost tourism and business throughout Sweden. We believe that passenger numbers will rise quickly due to the large number of potential passengers in the catchment areas and the speed we offer. This will mean that the operation will become profitable as early as the second quarter of 2011", says Finn Johnsson, chairman of the City Airline board.

Several new routes will be presented during 2010. It is planned that all routes will start operating in the autumn of 2010.

Example fare: A short domestic flight from Västerås to Landvetter will cost SEK 395, and from Karlstad to Paris SEK 995.

Cancellato il volo diretto Malpensa-Göteborg
Il vettore svedese City Airline doveva avviare il servizio il 15 aprile

La compagnia aerea svedese City Airline ha deciso di non far partire il nuovo volo non stop da Milano Malpensa a Göteborg che sarebbe stato inaugurato il 15 aprile, a causa carenza di prenotazioni. Partirà comunque volo diretto che il vettore opera da Roma Fiumicino a Göteborg, operativo tre volte alla settimana a partire dal 1 aprile. (Guida Viaggi)
