La corsa di Emirates e di Dubai è finita?


Le autorità del Qatar, tra le più avare di statistiche, hanno pubblicato qualche dato sul traffico di DOH nel primo semestre.
Ho messo a confronto i risultati dello scalo qatariota con quelli di DXB e AUH. Tra parentesi le variazioni percentuali rispetto allo stesso periodo del 2015.

Sembra che DOH sia rimasto l'unico degli hub della zona a continuare la corsa a ritmo brillante. DXB ha rallentato parecchio, ma come valori assoluti rimane su un'altra categoria rispetto ai concorrenti. In entrambi gli scali citati, il riempimento medio degli aerei è aumentato moderatamente, ma è AUH che primeggia in questo contesto. AUH che però deve accontentarsi di una modesta crescita percentuale di pax, che in valore assoluto è una frazione di quella dei competitor.
Infine ho l'impressione che da nessuno dei tre scali partano troppi aerei pieni a tappo. Le differenze tra i valori rispecchiano piuttosto fedelmente le flotte degli hub carrier basati.

dati molto interessanti. anche se cresce a ritmi sostenuti, mi aspettavo qualche pax in piu' su Doha
 
Settembre: pax +10.2%, m/h -1.9%, 213 pax/volo. Quest'ultimo è il dato reale. Tutti gli altri valori sui pax/volo sono dati dal più impreciso rapporto pax/movimenti. Per un confronto omogeneo, a Settembre detto rapporto è 208 pax/volo.
Gennaio-Settembre: pax +7.2%, m/h +3.2%, 202 pax/volo.

Mesi a cavallo di Capodanno con ottimi dati su tutti i fronti.

2016
Dicembre: pax +9.3%, m/h +1.6%, 224 pax/volo.
Gennaio-Dicembre: pax +7.2%, m/h +2.8%, 209 pax/volo.

2017
Gennaio: pax +9.7%, m/h +2.1%, 230 pax/volo. Per la prima volta oltre 8M pax in un mese.

Target 2017: 89M di pax (+6.4%)

Il target di 89M pax per il 2017 mi sembra alla portata, a gennaio sono partiti molto bene.
 
EK taglia un po' i voli americani dal prossimo mese, 5 destinazioni su 12 servite saranno oggetto di riduzioni.
Nello specifico
- Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston passeranno da 2 a 1 giornaliero.
- Fort Lauderdale e Orlando da giornaliero a 5 volte la settimana.


Largest Middle East airline to cut flights to US due to 'weakened travel demand'

The Middle East's biggest airline says it is reducing flights to the United States because of a drop in demand caused by tougher U.S. security measures and attempts by the Trump administration to ban travelers from a number of Muslim-majority nations.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Emirates, the Middle East's biggest airline, said on Wednesday that it is cutting flights to the United States because of a drop in demand caused by heightened U.S. security measures and Trump administration attempts to ban travelers from Muslim-majority nations.

The decision by the Dubai government-owned carrier is the strongest sign yet that tougher measures imposed on U.S.-bound travelers from the Mideast are taking a financial toll on fast-growing Gulf carriers that have expanded rapidly in the United States in recent years.

Dubai was one of 10 cities in Muslim-majority countries affected by a ban on laptops and other personal electronics in carry-on luggage aboard U.S.-bound flights.

Emirates' hub at Dubai International Airport, the world's third busiest, is a major transit point for travelers who were affected by President Donald Trump's executive orders temporarily halting entry to citizens of six countries.

The latest travel ban suspended new visas for people from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen, and froze the nation's refugee program. Like an earlier ban that also included Iraqi citizens, it has been blocked from taking effect by the courts.

Emirates said the reductions will affect five of its 12 U.S. destinations, starting next month. It called the move "a commercial decision in response to weakened travel demand" in the three months since Trump took office.

"The recent actions taken by the U.S. government relating to the issuance of entry visas, heightened security vetting, and restrictions on electronic devices in aircraft cabins, have had a direct impact on consumer interest and demand for air travel into the U.S.," the carrier said.

The cuts will reduce the number of U.S.-bound flights from the carrier's Dubai hub to 101, down from 126 currently.

Twice daily Emirates flights to Boston, Los Angles and Seattle will be reduced to once a day. Daily flights to Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando will be pared down to five per week.
