....Cabin crew at some point started to act nervously. Then there were orders: sit down, fasten seatbelts etc Then she describes that at that point she was sure that there are technical issues as airplane started to make very aggressive movements. There was info from captain that they need to land in Minsk because of security reasons. When the landed in Minsk there was full army regiment waiting for them. Everyone went through very detailed revision including underwear with dogs. All belongings were searched in detail. One young girl (that finally was the arrested guy girlfriend) appearently tried to sneak out telling security that she is from Belarus and she could go to town by herself. Of course she did not succeed and eventually was arrested. However there was prolonged chaos out there with security trying to determine passenger list and pin point every individual. Passengers were counted multiple times back and forth.

Description:
On 23 May 2021, Ryanair flight FR4978, while overflying Belarus en-route to its final destination, Vilnius, was diverted by Belarusian authorities and forced to land in Minsk. The aeroplane ultimately departed and arrived in Vilnius with considerable delay after several passengers were forcibly disembarked in Minsk.

The circumstances surrounding this action cast serious doubts on the respect shown by Belarus for international civil aviation rules. The operational control of an aircraft rests with the operator and the aircraft commander, and they bear full responsibility for assessing the risk of any situation and for the subsequent decision making. The actions undertaken by Belarus amounted to an increased safety risk for the above-mentioned flight and put into question the ability of Belarus to provide safe air navigation services.

At this time, the safety concern described in this SIB is not considered to be an unsafe condition that would warrant Safety Directive (SD) action under Regulation (EU) 965/2012, Annex II, ARO.GEN.135(c).

Recommendation(s):
Pending the finalisation of an international investigation into the incident that occurred on 23 May 2021:
- Operators, having their principal place of business in one of the EASA MS, should avoid operations in FIR Minsk (UMMV), unless the use of that airspace is deemed necessary to ensure safe operation in case of unforeseen circumstances.
- Third Country Operators authorised by EASA, when conducting operations to, from and within the EU, are advised to avoid operations in FIR Minsk (UMMV), unless the use of that airspace is deemed necessary to ensure safe operation in case of unforeseen circumstances.

Ciao.

The European Union agreed Monday to impose sanctions on Belarus, including banning its airlines from using the airspace and airports of the 27-nation bloc, amid fury over the forced diversion of a passenger jet to arrest an opposition journalist.
The leaders called on their council “to adopt the necessary measures to ban overflight of EU airspace by Belarusian airlines and prevent access to EU airports of flights operated by such airlines.” In addition calling for the release of Pratasevich, they also urged authorities in Minsk to free his Russian girlfriend, Sofia Sapega, who was taken off the plane with him.

(sarebbe 2 - 0 :ROFLMAO: ).
