Garuda Indonesia finalises order for 25 A320 Family aircraft

Eco-efficient aircraft to be operated by low cost unit Citilink

    9 August 2011 Press Release
Garuda Indonesia has finalised an order with Airbus for the purchase of 25 A320 Family aircraft, firming up an MOU announced during the Paris Air Show in June. The order makes Garuda Indonesia a new A320 Family customer and covers 15 standard A320s and 10 A320neo aircraft for operation by the carrier's low cost unit Citilink. The airline will announce its engine selection for the aircraft in the near future.
"This order will ensure that Citilink is equipped to realise its full potential," said Emirsyah Satar, President & CEO, Garuda Indonesia. "We are confident that these modern, eco-efficient aircraft will enable us to win an important share of the fast-growing budget market in Indonesia, while providing our passengers with a high quality product."
"We are pleased to welcome Garuda Indonesia as a new customer for the A320 Family," said John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer, Customers, Airbus. "Citilink will benefit from the proven reliability, passenger appeal and low operating costs that make the A320 Family the single aisle market leader. We look forward to providing the airline with every support as they introduce their new fleet."
The A320 Family (A318, A319, A320 and A321) is recognised as the benchmark single-aisle product line. Close to 7,700 A320 Family aircraft have already been ordered and over 4,700 delivered to more than 330 customers and operators worldwide. The A320neo will have over 95 percent airframe commonality with the existing models, enabling it to fit seamlessly into existing A320 Family fleets.
Featuring the latest engines and new wing-tip devices called "sharklets", the A320neo will offer 15 percent in fuel savings and additional payload or range capability. The fuel savings will represent some 3,600 tonnes less CO2 per aircraft, per year. In addition, the A320neo will provide a double-digit reduction in NOx emissions and reduced engine noise.

Eco-efficient aircraft will enable airline to offer more capacity at even lower cost

    8 August 2011 Press Release
Cebu Pacific of the Philippines has finalised a firm order with Airbus for the purchase of 30 A321neo aircraft. The contract firms up a previously announced MOU signed in June. With this latest purchase agreement the fast-growing carrier has increased its total firm orders for the A320 Family to 71, of which 16 have already been delivered. The airline currently operates 25 A320 Family aircraft, including the 16 purchased from Airbus and nine leased aircraft.
Cebu Pacific plans to configure its A321neo fleet with 220 seats in a single class layout and will fly the aircraft across its expanding pan-Asian network. This currently includes 34 domestic and 16 international destinations, including Osaka, Seoul (Incheon), Beijing, Jakarta, Bangkok and Singapore. The airline will make a decision on its engine selection for the aircraft at a later date.
"The A321neo will enable us to increase capacity on our key routes while benefiting from the lowest operating costs of any aircraft in this size category," said Lance Gokongwei, Cebu Pacific President and CEO. "With these aircraft we will continue to build upon our reputation for offering high quality low fares service with one of the most modern and youngest fleets in Asia."
"Cebu Pacific has proven itself to be one of the most efficient and successful low cost carriers in the Asian region," said John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer, Customers, Airbus. "With the step-change in fuel savings offered by the A321neo the airline will be able to strengthen its position further, flying more people at even lower cost than before."
The A321neo is the largest model in the recently launched A320neo series, which incorporates new engines and large wing tip devices called sharklets. The advances will deliver fuel savings of over 15 percent and additional payload or range capability. The fuel savings translate into some 3,600 tonnes less CO2 per aircraft per year. In addition, the aircraft will provide a double-digit reduction in NOx emissions and reduced engine noise.
The A320 Family (A318, A319, A320 and A321) is recognised as the benchmark single-aisle aircraft family. Lufthansa purchases 30 A320neo Family aircraft

Fuel-efficient new aircraft will fit seamlessly into Lufthansa’s fleet and strategy

    27 July 2011 Press Release
Lufthansa has placed a firm order for 30 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft. This contract follows the selection by the Lufthansa Supervisory Board of the A320neo Family in March this year. The order comprises 25 A320neo and five A321neo aircraft. These will be powered by new-generation Pratt & Whitney PW1100G turbofan engines. With this latest order the Lufthansa Group, Airbus’ biggest airline customer, will have purchased a combined total of 443 Airbus aircraft.
The A320neo Family also incorporates large "Sharklet" wing tip devices, which together with the new more efficient engines, will deliver up to 15 percent in fuel savings. This will represent some 3,600 tonnes less CO2 per aircraft, per year. In addition, the A320neo will provide a double-digit reduction in NOx emissions and reduced engine noise, thus being a good neighbour at any airport where Lufthansa is operating the aircraft.
“We are proud that Lufthansa has chosen the eco-efficient A320neo Family as its solution for sustainable growth, and one which will fit seamlessly into its existing Airbus A320 fleet,” said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. “Since its launch in December last year, around 1,200 orders and commitments for the ‘neo’ have given it the fastest rate of sales ever for any commercial aircraft.”
Today the Lufthansa Group is Airbus’ biggest operator worldwide with more than 360 Airbus aircraft currently in service. These include: 254 A320 Family; 38 A330s; 65 A340s; and eight A380s. With this latest order for 30 aircraft, the Lufthansa Group has an order backlog which includes 85 A320 Family aircraft, eight A330s, and seven A380s.
The A320 Family (A318, A319, A320 and A321) is recognised as the benchmark single-aisle aircraft family. Over 7,500 Airbus A320 Family aircraft have been ordered and more than 4,700 delivered to more than 330 customers and operators worldwide. The A320neo Family will have over 95 percent airframe commonality with the existing models making it an easy fit into today’s fleets while offering up to 500 nautical miles more range or two tonnes more payload at a given range.

American Airlines acquires 260 Airbus A320 Family aircraft

U.S.-based global carrier becomes latest customer for Airbus’ market-leading, single-aisle aircraft

    20 July 2011 Press Release
Airbus and American Airlines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AMR Corporation, have signed a firm contract for American to acquire 260 modern, fuel-efficient Airbus A320 Family aircraft. The contract calls for flexibility for the airline to take delivery of A319s, A320s and A321s, with 130 featuring Airbus’ New Engine Option (neo). All 260 aircraft will feature large, fuel-saving wingtip devices known as Sharklets.
The deal between Airbus and American was announced today at the airline’s Dallas/Ft. Worth hub. The airline plans to announce its choice of engines to power the aircraft at a later date.
“We are pleased to add the Airbus single-aisle family as an important component of our fleet modernization strategy,” said AMR and American Airlines President Tom Horton. “The A320 Family of aircraft will help us achieve improved fuel efficiency and other operational savings, while offering our customers state-of-the-art technology and an enhanced travel experience. We look forward to a successful partnership with Airbus.”
“We are extremely proud and gratified once again to count American Airlines among Airbus’ global customers,” said Airbus President and CEO Tom Enders. “The order by American represents a strong endorsement of our constantly improving single-aisle product line. All of us at Airbus look forward to seeing the American Airlines livery on A320 Family aircraft – and we look forward to fulfilling our commitment to providing the people of American, as well as their passengers, with the highest level of support and service in the industry.”
The A320 Family is recognized as the benchmark single-aisle aircraft family. The aircraft feature the latest technology available today, the widest and most comfortable cabin, and the highest degree of operational commonality. With 99.7% reliability and extended servicing periods, the A320 Family has the lowest operating costs of any single-aisle aircraft today. More than 4700 A320 Family aircraft are in airline operation around the world today.
The A320neo, launched in late 2010, is the latest product innovation at Airbus. These new A319, A320 and A321 models feature a choice of two new engines – the PurePower PW1100G from Pratt & Whitney or the LEAP-X from CFM International. Together, the Sharklets and new engine choices result in a 15 percent fuel burn reduction, corresponding to an annual carbon dioxide reduction of 3,600 metric tons per aircraft. Compared to prior-generation narrowbody aircraft, the fuel savings could easily amount to up to 30 percent. Since launching the innovative product in December of last year, Airbus has received orders and commitments for almost 1200 A320neo Family aircraft.
Airbus is the leading aircraft manufacturer with the most modern and comprehensive family of airliners on the market, ranging in capacity from 100 to more than 500 seats. More than 10,700 Airbus aircraft have been sold to more than 440 customers and operators worldwide, and more than 6,700 have been delivered since the company first entered the market in the early seventies.

Qantas and Airbus seal biggest order in Australian aviation history

    Firm order for 78 A320neo and 32 A320s

    6 OCTOBER 2011 PRESS RELEASE
Qantas and Airbus have finalised a contract for 110 A320 Family aircraft, to help with the airline’s fleet renewal and expansion plans in the coming years. The firm order for 78 A320neo and 32 A320s is the largest single order in Australian aviation history by aircraft units and follows a commitment signed in August.
The new aircraft will be deployed across the Qantas Group on short to medium haul domestic and international operations and underpin the airline’s commitment to build a fleet with the most fuel efficient and reliable aircraft in the market.
“The Airbus A320 will be the launch aircraft for Qantas' new, premium airline based in Asia and will support Jetstar’s expansion plans - including the establishment of Jetstar Japan,” said Alan Joyce, Qantas CEO. “The A320 Family’s outstanding operational efficiency and comfort, plus its environmental credentials, make it the right choice for the Qantas Group.”
“We are delighted that our A320neo and A320s are playing a vital role in Qantas’ future strategy,” said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. “Coming from one of the world’s great aviation pioneering companies, this order is a great endorsement of Airbus and of our eco-efficient aircraft products.”
The A320neo is a new engine option for the A320 Family to enter service in 2015. It incorporates latest generation engines and large "Sharklet" wing tip devices, which together will deliver 15 percent in fuel and CO2 emission savings.
A320 Family orders to date already exceed 7,900, reaffirming its position as the world’s best-selling single-aisle aircraft family. To date over 4,790 have been delivered to over 330 customers and operators worldwide. The A320neo has over 95 percent airframe commonality with the existing A320 models while offering up to 500 nautical miles (950 kilometres) more range or two tonnes more payload. It is offered with engines from CFM International’s LEAP-X or Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower PW1100G.
Qantas will make its engine decision at a later date.
Airbus has received 1,245 A320neo orders and commitments since its launch just ten months ago, in December 2010.

Conferma di un MoU di Parigi

ALAFCO expands commitment to 80 Airbus A320neo
Signs initial firm order for 50 at Dubai Airshow

    14 November 2011 Press Release
ALAFCO, the Kuwait-based international Aviation Lease and Finance Company, has finalised a purchase order for 50 A320neo Family aircraft and took options for 30 more to be finalized by year end.

The firm contract signed today at the 2011 Dubai Airshow is an increase of the initial agreement made at the Paris Le Bourget Airshow for 30 A320neo aircraft which are now confirmed.

ALAFCO has already ordered a total of 26 A320s of which 25 have been delivered to date.

“The A320neo is the market’s favourite single-aisle aircraft family,” said Ahmed Al Zabin, ALAFCO Chairman. “The significant fuel burn savings it offers, combined with the operational reliability and cost effectiveness of the A320 Family, make it an absolute “must have” in our portfolio to meet the demand and the requirements of our customers”.

“Higher fuel prices means airlines require fuel efficient aircraft and with the A320neo offering a 15 per cent fuel burn reduction, it is the ideal investment. The A320neo reduces operating costs whilst enabling airlines to offer the best cabin comfort levels,” said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer Customers. “This significant order from ALFACO confirms that the neo ticks all the right boxes and is clearly the best product on the market.”

Over 8,100 A320 Family aircraft have already been ordered and more than 4,800 delivered to more than 340 customers and operators worldwide reaffirming its position as the world’s best-selling single-aisle aircraft family. The A320neo has over 95 percent airframe commonality making it an easy fit into existing fleets while offering up to 500 nautical miles (950 kilometres) more range or two tonnes more payload at a given range.

The A320neo is a new engine option for the A320 Family entering into service from 2015 and incorporates latest generation engines and large "Sharklet" wing tip devices, which together will deliver 15 percent in fuel savings. This reduction in fuel burn is equivalent to 1.4m litres of fuel – the consumption of 1,000 mid size cars. This saves 3,600 metric tonnes of C02 per aircraft per year, the amount absorbed by 240,000 mature trees. The A320neo NOx emissions are 50% below CAEP/6 and this aircraft also has considerably a smaller noise footprint.

Qatar Airways selects 50 Airbus A320neo and 5 additional A380s

Furthering fleet growth with world’s most eco-efficient aircraft

    15 November 2011 Press Release
The State of Qatar’s national airline, Qatar Airways, has selected the A320neo as the reference aircraft for expanding its short to medium haul fleet and has increased its order for the A380. The agreement signed at the 2011 Dubai Airshow, is a firm contract for 50 A320neo aircraft and five additional A380s.

The A320neo is an option for the A320 Family and incorporates new engines and large "Sharklet" wing tip devices, which together will deliver 15 percent in fuel savings, representing some 3,600 tonnes less CO2 per aircraft per year.

“The A320neo promises to be a great aircraft which is why we have chosen it to form the backbone of our future single aisle expansion. Together with our increase in A380s and our orders for A350 XWB, we are continuing investing in an integrated Family of the world’s most modern and fuel efficient aircraft,” said Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways CEO.

“Qatar Airways supported the development of the Airbus A320neo very early on. It is with great pride that we are announcing this large order today including an additional five A380s,” said John Leahy Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. “We appreciate having built a unique relationship with our friends at Qatar Airways over the years.”

Qatar Airways has ordered a total of 43 A320 Family aircraft directly from Airbus and, including leased aircraft has 38 in its fleet. The last four of the A320s on order will be provisioned for “Sharklets” following a recently signed agreement. Qatar Airways’ total A380 order increases to 10 aircraft following its initial order for two made in 2003, which was later raised to five in 2007. Qatar Airways’ current in-service fleet also includes the region’s largest number of A330s (29).

The A320neo has over 95 percent airframe commonality making it an easy fit into existing fleets while offering up to 500 nautical miles (950 kilometres) more range or two tonnes more payload. The A320neo reduces fuel burn by 15%, which is equivalent to 1.4m litres of fuel – the consumption of 1000 mid size cars. This saves 3600 tonnes of C02 per aircraft per year, the amount of CO2 absorbed by 240,000 mature trees. The A320neo aircraft also has a considerably smaller noise footprint. Sales of the neo have reached over 1,200 orders and commitments in under a year, making it the fastest selling aircraft ever.

Typically seating 525 passengers in a three class layout, the A380 is capable of flying 8,300 nautical miles / 15,300 kilometres non-stop, enabling direct service from Qatar to New York. As of today total firm orders for the aircraft stand at over 240 from 18 customers worldwide.

    Post-Spat, Qatar Goes For A380, A320NEO

    Nov 15, 2011

    By Robert Wall wall@aviationweek.com
    DUBAI

Hours after publicly upbraiding Airbus, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker made an about-face and signed a deal for up to eight A380s and 80 A320NEOs for a list price of $6.4 billion for the firm portion. The NEOs will be powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G geared turbofans.

Both deals have been long anticipated, but were thrown into doubt earlier today when Al Baker voiced unhappiness at this year’s change in the specification of the A350-1000 delay and over an “impass” on the deal he eventually signed - he would not detail what the disagreement was over, only saying it was not an issue of pricing.

Al Baker says Airbus is now reviewing that plan, which has also drawn fire from Emirates Airlines president Tim Clark. But Airbus chief operating officer for customers, John Leahy, says there are no plans to change the latest design. It has more range and payload than the 777-300ER, and 25% lower fuel burn, he asserts, adding that he plans to send a sales team to Doha to “explain” the specification of the aircraft.

The A320NEO deal is for 50 firm aircraft and 30 options, with the A380 deal split between five firm and thre options.

The A380 deal doubles Qatar’s order book for the type. The first aircraft is due in the second half of 2013, with the first from this batch of orders to arrive around 2015. The aircraft will have eight first class and 42 business class seats, with the rest in economy. The total count is around 515 seats.

The engine selection for the A380 is expected before the end of the month, with the selection process between the Engine Alliance GP7200 and Rolls-Royce Trent 900 almost complete, an airline official says.

The A320NEO “will be the backbone of our future single aisle expansion,” Al Baker says. Qatar Airways will be the first operator for the A319NEO, the A320NEO, and the A321NEO. The A320NEO will come first, in the second half of 2015, followed by the A319 and A321 each six months later.

    Qatar is buying 30 A320s, 14 A321s, and six A319s.

Al Baker says the deal does not kill his interest in the Bombardier CSeries. “We are still interested in that airplane” and talks with Bombardier will resume once the current fleet purchases are resolved.

Qatar Airways Selects Pratt & Whitney PurePower® PW1100G-JM Engines for Airbus A320neo Aircraft Family

DUBAI AIR SHOW, Nov 15, 2011 – Qatar Airways has selected Pratt & Whitney PurePower® PW1100G-JM engines for its order of 50 firm A320neo family aircraft. The deal includes 100 PW1100G-JM engines with a PureSolutionSM maintenance service agreement. Deliveries are scheduled to start in 2015. Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

“Qatar Airways selected the PurePower® engine after doing a detailed technical and commercial evaluation to determine the best choice for our operations and growth strategy,” said Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker. “We required both the improvement in fuel burn and reduction in maintenance costs, which is exactly what the PurePower® engine provides.”

Each Qatar Airways Airbus A320neo family aircraft will be powered by two PurePower® PW1100G-JM engines with benefits including double-digit reductions in fuel burn, environmental emissions, engine noise and operating costs when compared with today’s engines.

“We are very pleased that Qatar Airways – the first airline to enter service with the A320neo family - selected the PurePower® engine," said Todd Kallman, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines & Global Services president. “The PurePower® engine offers the right solution to help today’s airlines reduce their costs and operate in a more environmentally friendly way.”

The PurePower® engine uses an advanced gear system allowing the engine’s fan to operate at a different speed than the low-pressure compressor and turbine. The combination of the gear system and an all-new advanced core delivers the fuel efficiency and environmental benefits.

Qatar Airways is one of the world’s fastest growing airlines. Ranked Five Star for service excellence, Qatar was voted the best airline in the world in a 2011 Skytrax survey of airline customers. The Doha-based airline currently operates a modern fleet of more than 100 aircraft to over 100 destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America.

Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems and industrial gas turbines. United Technologies, based in Hartford, Conn., is a diversified company providing high technology products and services to the global aerospace and building industries.

Air Lease Corporation firms up order for 36 A320neo Family aircraft

Clear lessor endorsement for the A321, the largest A320 Family member

    6 June 2012 Press Release
Air Lease Corporation (ALC), the Los Angeles based aircraft leasing company, signed a firm contract for 36 A320neo Family aircraft, 20 of which will be of the larger A321neo model in line with the market trend towards larger aircraft across all market segments, plus 14 options.

This firm contract follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the 2011 Paris Le Bourget Airshow. Engine selection for the aircraft will be made at a later date. With this new order, ALC’s cumulative orders for new Airbus aircraft will reach 100 (50 A320 Family, 36 A320neo Family and 14 A330 Family aircraft).

“Airbus’ popular A320neo is an outstanding aircraft for airlines looking to improve their efficiency and deliver the premier short to medium haul travel experience to their passengers,” said Steven F. Udvar-Házy, Air Lease Corporation’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “The A320neo Family will be a cornerstone in ALC’s portfolio going forward.”

“When a leading lessor, namely Air Lease Corporation, orders our A320neo family, we take that as a huge thumbs up for our strategy to offer a new technology, fuel-efficient aircraft. Thanks to the high degree of commonality between the current generation A320 Family and the A320neo, these aircraft fit easily into airlines’ existing fleets,” said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. “The A320 Family remains the most advanced and cost effective product on offer in the single aisle segment. We’re investing over 300 million Euros a year to keep it ahead of the competition well into the future.”

The A320neo Family is a new engine option for the A320 Family entering into service from late 2015 and incorporates latest generation engines and large "Sharklet" wing tip devices, which together will deliver up to 15 percent in fuel savings. The A320neo NOx emissions are 50 percent below CAEP/6 and this aircraft also has a considerably smaller noise footprint.

Over 8,300 A320 Family aircraft have been ordered and more than 5,000 delivered to more than 360 customers and operators worldwide.

Avolon increases initial NEO commitment by signing firm order for 20

Becomes latest global lessor to include fuel efficient A320neo in their portfolio

    10 JANUARY 2013 PRESS RELEASE
Avolon, the international leasing company has confirmed an order for 20 A320neo aircraft in December 2012. This firm order is an increase on Avolon’s initial commitment for 15 A320neo aircraft announced in July 2012 at the Farnborough International Airshow.

Avolon will make its engine selection at a later date.“Our increased commitment to the NEO reflects the strong customer feedback we have received since our original announcement for 15 NEO aircraft in July 2012. Maintaining a forward order book of highly fuel-efficient, new generation aircraft is a natural complement to our extensive sale and leaseback and other financing capabilities and maintains our position as a premier, full-service aircraft lessor,” John Higgins, Avolon President and Chief Commercial Officer commented.

“We are confident that our customers will be satisfied with the economic and environmental benefits the NEO promises to deliver.”“When a dynamic lessor such as Avolon decides to order more of our aircraft than originally planned, it’s a clear recognition of the excellent value our products deliver,” said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. “We are confident that the A320neo Family, which offers the best economics of any single aisle aircraft, will be the backbone of leasing companies’ portfolios for the years to come.”

Indonesian LCC builds modern Airbus fleet

    14 JANUARY 2013 PRESS RELEASE
Citilink, the low cost subsidiary of Garuda Indonesia has placed a firm order with Airbus for 25 A320neo. The contract, signed in December 2012, represents the first direct purchase by Citilink from Airbus. It follows an order placed in 2011 by Garuda Indonesia for 15 A320ceo and 10 A320neo aircraft for operation by Citilink.
Citilink already operates a fleet of 12 leased A320s on its fast growing domestic network.

Airbus boosts revenue potential of A321neo with new cabin options
Adds more seats, reduces seat mile costs by five percent

Airbus is offering airlines brand new options for configuring the generous floor space offered by the A321neo. These allow more flexibility and thus increase the number of seats at the same comfort standard. In addition, the maximum exit limit is raised beyond 220 seats. These new cabin options capitalize on recent innovations in cabin monuments and seat design which allow airlines more efficient use of cabin space without compromising passenger comfort. The new cabin options will enter into service in the second half of 2017.

The first new option consists of an additional over-wing exit door which raises the current maximum exit limit so operators can make even more use of the available cabin floor space. When this new option is combined with the Space-Flex aft cabin configuration, the A321neo can accommodate up to 236 seats, 16 seats more than today’s maximum seating, which leads to a reduction in seat mile costs of five percent.

In conjunction with the additional over-wing exit door, a second new option is available whereby the forward exit is de-activated. This creates a seamless, undivided forward cabin allowing additional seats and even more flexibility in multi-class seat arrangements. This option will be of particular use in longer range markets where high comfort standards are needed in Premium class.

The A320 Family offers the widest cross section in the single aisle aircraft market with the Airbus standard 18 inch wide seat in economy class.

The A320neo Family incorporates latest generation engines and large Sharklet wing-tip devices, which together will deliver up to 15 percent in fuel savings which is equivalent to 1.4 million litres of fuel - the consumption of 1,000 mid size cars, saving 3,600 tons of C02 per aircraft per year. With more than 1,700 firm orders since its launch in December 2010, the A320neo Family has proven to be the fastest selling commercial aircraft programme ever.

The A320 Family is the world’s best-selling and most modern single aisle aircraft Family. To date, more than 9,000 aircraft have been ordered and over 5,800 delivered to more than 380 customers and operators worldwide.

A320neo programme starts first major-component assembly

    Blagnac, 08 November 2013

    • First A320neo engine pylon assembled in Toulouse
    • Other NEO subassemblies taking shape soon across Airbus sites

The engine pylon for the first A320neo to fly has been assembled at Airbus in Toulouse (c) Airbus

Airbus has achieved assembly of the engine pylon for the first A320neo to fly. The pylon (depicted below), which has just been completed at the dedicated pylon facility in St Eloi in Toulouse, is the first major airframe component assembly to take place for the NEO programme.
In parallel with this pylon construction, other major NEO components and subassemblies will shortly be taking shape in factories across various countries. For example, in Hamburg the centre wing-box will soon arrive from the UK to be integrated in the fuselage, and also the rear fuselage will begin assembly there. In St. Nazaire, the forward fuselage will start assembly in January 2014.
Overall progress on the first A320neo is well on track for aircraft final assembly to start in spring 2014, followed by the aircraft making its first flight next autumn.

Airbus just rolled out the first A320neo. Improvements with the A320neo compared to classic A320 include a 15 per cent reduction in fuel consumption, two tonnes of additional payload, up to 500 nautical miles of more range, lower operating costs, along with reductions in engine noise and emissions.
The biggest visible difference are the engines that has increased in size from about 68" to 81". The test flight program will start in a couple of months and the first delivery is scheduled for October 2015. There are 2000+ A320neo on order.
